  • Dr Kate Butler

    Kate entered the Patent profession in 2002. Kate graduated with a First Class Hons. Degree in Natural Sciences from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University. Her degree in Natural Sciences encompassed Physics, Material Science and Chemistry. Kate completed a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at UMIST/the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research at Christie's Hospital. Kate is a qualified European Patent Attorney and UK Chartered Patent Attorney, and holds the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate. Kate specialises in chemical, pharmaceutical and mechanical based technology and has extensive experience handling IP for inventors, start-ups, SMEs, national and multinational companies.

  • Dr Jess O’Kane

    Jess graduated with a First Class Hons. Degree in Chemistry and a DPhil in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford.  Jess entered the profession in 2009, and is a qualified European Patent Attorney and UK Chartered Patent Attorney, and holds the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate. Jess is also a UPC Representative. Jess handles a range of chemical and pharmaceutical based subject matter, and is experienced in all stages of drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications and IP portfolio management.

  • Dr Leigh-Anne Thomas

    Leigh-Anne holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Bath and entered the patent profession in 2011. Her multidisciplinary doctoral research combined acoustic physics with semiconductor and nanotechnology. She is a qualified UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney, and has passed the Litigation Course Certificate. Her private practice experience includes advising clients from sole inventors to multinational companies on patent and design protection. Whilst she deals with a wide range of subject matter, Leigh-Anne specialises in digital technologies and computer-implemented inventions.

  • Olivia Tsang (Consultant)

    After finishing her PhD, Olivia joined the IP profession in 2007. Olivia specialises in inventions in the physical sciences, and has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the fields of mechanical and electronic engineering, software, computer network, AI methods and medical devices, as well as advising clients on patenting strategy. Olivia is a native Cantonese speaker and has a working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. As part of her training, she was seconded to a leading intellectual property law firm in China. She has given seminars on European IP to Chinese companies and in-house counsels at a number of seminars and conferences. She has extensive experience in working directly with inventors and in-house counsels from UK and overseas companies, with a particular interest in working with start-ups, SMEs and independent inventors.

  • Dr Sophie-Beth Aylett (Consultant)

    Sophie-Beth is a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney with significant experience working in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences. Sophie-Beth is skilled in due diligence, IP strategy and patent portfolio management, as well as the drafting, filing and prosecuting of national and international patent applications. Sophie-Beth routinely acts before the UKIPO, EPO and WIPO, as well as being a UPC representative. Sophie-Beth works with a broad range of clients from first-time inventors, start-ups and SMEs to large established businesses and foreign partners.

  • Rebecca Davis (Consultant)

    Rebecca is a chartered UK and EU trade mark and design attorney specialising in trade mark protection and portfolio management in the UK and on an international basis. Rebecca has gained over 25 years’ experience in non-contentious and contentious trade mark work on a global scale and has worked at leading City law firms and in-house at a leading FMCG company. Rebecca has worked both in private practice in leading City law firms and in industry meaning that she can offer a unique insight to the legal challenges facing businesses ensuring that any advice provided is legally and commercially sound whilst mindful of budgetary and business constraints. Rebecca has acted on behalf of a broad range of clients, from start-ups to multi-nationals, in areas as diverse as publishing, food and beverages, fashion, sport and telecommunications.

  • Damien Chin (Consultant)

    Damien is a chartered UK and EU trade mark attorney. Damien works round the clock to provide trade mark support and advice to a wide spectrum of businesses, from pre-filing strategy, international protection, application support and enforcement. His expertise lies in navigating international registries particularly the UK and EU to assist clients with acquiring trade mark protection.
